Our History
David Martin – General Manager of the Delano Chamber Players
I would like to welcome you all to the exciting next season of the Delano Chamber Players. Last season was a disappointment to all concerned because of so many restrictions imposed on us due to the virus that swept our nation. This year we are hoping to pick up where we left off by bringing superb musical offerings from our numerous performing ensembles. I would like to recap with you a brief history of our ensembles. In the fall of 2008 the Horn Society was putting on a concert that required string accompaniment. So, I asked several of my friends that played string instruments to help with the concert. After the concert they liked playing so much that they did not want to stop performing and so we formed the Delano Chamber Orchestra with a total of three concerts in the first season. Since then, we have had multiple musicians and performing ensembles that have joined us to create a unique and superb organization that brings quality and variety to all of its performances. We now have as members of our family the Delano Chamber Orchestra, the Delano Chamber Brass, Delano Jazz Orchestra, the Delano Wind Ensemble, and the Delano Chamber Chorus in addition to numerous Young People's Competitions, Orchestras and groups that round out our musical family. None of this would have been possible without the unflagging and wholehearted support and partnership of West Side Baptist Church where almost all of our concerts are held. I hope that you find our concerts fill a need in your lives and welcome you to the next season of The Delano Chamber Players. |
